“The cure for anything is salt water: sweat, tears, or the sea.” ~ Isak Dinesen
There are particular challenges you may face if you’re the devotee of a sea deity, the least of which is likely “How do I obtain sea water if I live deep inland?”, but it’s the one we’re tackling today. This recipe will create roughly a cup of purified “sea water” with no tiny bits of marine life in it, but it should still be kept refrigerated or else mixed up only when you’re about to use it (any water, left out for a sufficient time, will eventually host life). So, if you find yourself in Utah, Illinois, or simply don’t want to drive down to the coast to collect some water, this should provide some help.
Please note that the salinity of all sea water is going to be different depending on where you collect it from, and that this recipe is not intending to create water that can be used in a saltwater aquarium. For water like that, which has its own particular mix of nutrients, you’ll want to go to a pet shop.
