Hello everyone, and greetings!
For those of you I have not met yet, my name is Bill Duvendack. I am a professional astrologer, among other things, based out of St Louis MO. I have been in business fourteen years, and have been writing horoscopes of many kinds for the majority of that time. Now that we go the introductions out of the way, let’s look ahead to 2023 through the lens of astrology.
In this article I will discuss 2023 in a broad sense, but future columns will get into monthly specifics. This is not to say that I won’t touch on January 2023 though, as there is a lot going on to note. Early January finds us towards the end of two significant retrogrades, Mercury and Mars, with a full moon on the 7th, so if you’re feeling out of sorts to begin the new year, this would be why. Retrogrades are times of resolution, revisitation, and reassessment, to name a few traits, so contemplating 2023 instead of actually moving ahead might be a smart point to consider, especially when it comes to reflecting on how you communicate, what is left undone from 2022, and how you connect with the sacred masculine.
In case you wake up January 1, 2023 in a haze of confusion or pain though, don’t worry, the cosmos is kind enough to give you a warning in the form of a full moon on January 7th in the sign of Capricorn. Full moons are times of extra energy in the air, and with that can come times of erratic behavior, events, and in this case, may act as a catalyst for the last few days of those two retrogrades. Uranus is also retrograde during this time, and for the icing on the cake, I should mention that Mars moves direct on Friday the 13th, making 2023 (Hail Eris) start off with a bang. This happens in Gemini, telling us that travel, personal communication, siblings, and the smart phone, may all be areas of concerns and issues at that time.
Mercury directs on the 19th, with the new moon two days later, revealing that the party continues, from the full moon on the 7th through the 21st, giving us two weeks of unmitigated astrological joy until the sun moves into Aquarius. Once that happens though, you could safely say that is when the new year actually starts, even though we know it doesn’t energetically start until spring equinox in March in the northern hemisphere.
On a related note, the Mercury retrogrades in 2023 will all be occurring in earth signs, telling us that most of what will be addressed during those times have to do with health, the career, occupation, money, and all things related to the physical world. Venus also retrogrades this year in the fixed fire sign of Leo, which tells us issues that have to do with pride, narcississm, money through creativity, and being proud of your loved ones may all come up to be addressed. Luckily this doesn’t happen until July, so there’s time to fix those issues now. And finally, to give you something to look forward to (HA!), 2023 ends with Mercury and Jupiter stationing direct on the same day, New Year’s eve…
Until next time, may we all receive blessings of good health, success, and prosperity!
Namaste,
Bill
