By this point you probably know that the idea of needing to be gifted a tarot deck instead of buying one is utter hokum. If you’ve set foot in a store (online or brick-and-mortar) to buy one for yourself, though, you may have been a bit befuddled by the sheer variety of decks out there…and you might be doubly confused when trying to figure out the difference between a tarot deck and an oracle deck!
So what’s the difference?
The good news is that the only real difference comes down to style and layout. Both types of decks are used for telling the past, present, and future, and both decks come in a variety of art styles and with suggested reading spreads. Tarot decks are a bit older (though not so old as some would tell you), while oracle decks are more modern and might even turn up in a counselor’s office as a form of personal therapy!
